Stop with this sex stuff already - the review of "Get Lucky" - Daft Punk
highly mega zorbed hyped song from the band that everybody apparently loves daft punk. i heard it one, two, three thousand times the big opening to the sophomore album "discovery". but the album itself was not a discovery, not for music critics who already acclaimed the first album and not for the people who fought to buy one of the limited CDs of the previous album that were initially sold.
it's obvious that after that much acclaim and gaining fans through the years, the announcement of a new album would be a major event to music this year. not only that, it seems to me that daft punk wants that, they are a band that is involved in many aspects of the presentation to the song, including fashion and graphical elements.
the first single released has an interesting cover of a sunrise and the silhouettes of the band and the guest singer, i quite like the timeless feel that the single art (much like the song) has with the sun, 70's positioning of the band and all that good stuff.
the music has this feel good vibe with the distinct riff of guitar that sounds to me as if daft punk were trying to make the very basic instinct that they have when they were producing tracks like "One More Time", just not with anything new or interesting enough. the song feels repetitive, timeless but it gets tired after 5 listens. i honestly don't want to listen to it anymore and i feel like if this song blows up (it will) i will starting hating the sun, the luck and all the aspects involved. the lyrics are talking about sex, and getting luck and having fun together, pharell says:
"getting lucky is not just sleeping with her, but meeting someone for the first time and it just clicking. there’s no better fortune in this existence, to me"
that's actually nice when you are first listening to it, but again it feels very repetitive and it ain't going nowhere. should have gone? i don't know, but it sure is an annoying track.
i imagine this song is like packing your clothes, closing your bag, getting to the car and realizing you don't have a car and has to stay at home repeating the same thing over and over.
